Are you ready to dance? It’s time to celebrate the Lunar New Year by stitching up a majestic Chinese Dragon chasing his Pearl of Wisdom. Rooted in Chinese mythology, the Dragon Dance is performed at Chinese celebrations. While Dragon Dances may take place at all kinds of events throughout the year, almost every New Year festival will feature a weaving and winding dragon puppet, suspended on poles carried by human puppeteers, in pursuit of a separate globular “pearl of wisdom.” This dragon is no puppet, but I still think it is a fitting metaphor to start a new year. May we all spend the Year of the Dragon pursuing our own pearls of wisdom!
Stitched with DMC floss in two shades of red on a bright golden background, this design wishes you luck and prosperity over the next year!
